Donna:

I don't know too much about her expect that she lived with her eldest daughter, my ggrandmother on my father's side (Thornton). Her daughter was Hannah,I think, Charleton. My notes are tucked away and it is pretty late right now. Hannah married Albert Winslow Thornton in Washington City, IN. Pheobe was living on a farm with her children, no husband, at the time Hannah and Albert met. Albert was traveling West with his father, William Thornton. They both worked on Pheobe's farm. One thing lead to another and Albert and Hannah married. They had two kids born in Indiana and then kept moving West to Nebraska. They stayed in Roca, Nebraska, long enough to have several more kids, including my grandfather, Elbert Charleton Thornton. Both in-laws were living nearby, William Thornton and Pheobe Graybill. Pheobe had her kids with her including a young Graybill son. William was living with another family.

I do not know if Pheobe made it out to California, as the others did. I do know that they stayed in close contact. I hope this helps.

I would love to learn what you have on this family.

Penny
