The following is what I have on the movement of the Agee's between Tennessee and Alabama. Some of this I have received from various cousins during my search for my Agee roots.I don't always have them credited, mostly because I can no longer reach some of the cousins via email.Their email addresses that I have are now no longer valid.I do have the email of a cousin, though, who has an extensive database on the Agee's, and I am sure she can give you probably more information than I have.I will include her name and email at the end of this message.
Daniel was in Sullivan Co., TN by 1792.Another record shows him there in 1795.David signed petition on 11/2/1806.Also signing were Shoemakers Thomas, John, Daniel and Jeremiah. The Shoemaker Book agrees.(We believe that Jane, Daniel's wife, was a member of this particular Shoemaker family, but the Shoemaker Book was no help on Jane.)There is a sale of land by Daniel in Smith Co., TN on 7/8/1817 of 33 acres.
Land records in Madison Co., AL where Daniel bought 199.21 acres on 2/3/1818.1820 census finds Daniel's son Anthony in Limestone Co., AL, along with the Shoemakers.Again, Shoemaker Book agrees.Daniel's son William Agee, had land in Lauderdale Co., AL.William married Julia Henderson there 7/16/1822.Anthony also had land in Madison Co., AL.Daniel sold some land in Madison Co. with Jane signing on 9/27/1824.1830 census shows Jane and Daniel still in Madison Co., AL.Both Anthony and William lived in Fayette Co., TN in 1830.Alabama records show that daughter Mary "Polly" married Stithe Lanthrop(Lantroop) on 1/5/1826 in Madison Co., AL.They lived in Limestone Co., AL the rest of their lives.Daughter Sarah Jane "Sallie" married Joseph Davis Cannady(Kennedy) in Madison Co., AL on 11/5/1831.Haven't found any of them in 1840 as of yet. With the exception of Anthony's son David G. Agee in Tallahatchie Co., MS.David married Syrena McBroom in Limestone Co., AL 9/9/1839.1845 census finds William and David in Yalobuska Co., MS.Daniel is found in 1850 census living with daughter Sarah Cannady(Kennedy) in Limestone Co., AL.
Sometime after the 1850 census, Daniel moves to Gibson Co., TN and dies there in Trenton in 1854.Daniel is buried in the Union United Methodist Church cemetery.
Natalie Huntley, [email protected], is the cousin that has the extensive database on the Agee's.She may be able to help you a little more.
