My grandfather was a son of Robert Affleck, who had a homestead near Middleville, close to Lanark, Ontario. Grandpa Harry moved west to southern Manitoba in the early 1900's to help with the harvest. He married Myrtle Grey and moved to north cental Manitoba where he farmed until being disabled by a horse logging accident. They had had 8 surviving children (out of 12, 5 sons and 3 daughters. Of these, 2 sons & 2 daughters are still alive. 2 still live in the Swan River area of Manitoba while my mother lives in Vancouver and an uncle lives in Kamloops.

The extended family has scattered, mostly west to B.C. with the odd exception returning to Ontario. We have relatives in Colorado by the same name. They are offspring of Rodger Affleck.

We are not knowingly related to the Affleck's of Kenora (one of whom owned and operated a tour boat on Lake of the Woods - it was appropriately called the Argyle).

There are also Affleck's in Killarney, Manitoba and several in Winnipeg that are not related to our group.

If you are curious, I was an illigitimate son of Jean Affleck, raised by my grandparents (Harry (a.k.a. "Stump" and Myrtle)with the help of my Aunts and Uncles.
