I My name is Colin COLINS (surname possible spelt as COLLINS). I am told that my mother’s name was Nora CLARKE but after getting married to my father, she became Mrs Nora COLINS. The only thing I know about my father is that he was a soldier. I was also told that I was born at the Jubilee Hospital. I was told that I attended Central Branch Basic School on Slipe Road in Kingston. The date of my enrolment to this school was 29 May 1950. I was also told that as a child, I lived with my parents at number 7 Brentford Road, Kingston and that my grandmother (Mrs Clarke) had come from Africa to buy this property in Brentford Road, (where exactly in Africa, I DON'T know). I am told that I was taken to Pear Tree River - St. Thomas JAMAICA by a lady called Miss Martin (who was a business partner with the owner of Groves Enterprise which is in Kingston). By the sounds of it, I was given to/informally adopted. I was told that Mrs Martin carried me to her father in St. Thomas because all his children had grown up and he had no children of his own. My surname was changed from COLLINS to McGREGOR in St. Thomas. My date of birth was also changed from 1946 to 02/01/1945. I attended Pear Tree River All Age School. I know and have spoken to quite a few people who know about my family but, as mentioned above, they are remaining very tight lipped about everything. Because of the number of name and date of birth changes I have had to date, I have no real record of who I truly am – no birth certificate etc. With no formal documents to prove who I am, I am unable to get details from the Jubilee Hospital or the register of birth, death, marriage etc about my mother, father or the rest of my family. I am told that one Roger MCQueen (lives in Canada/Jamaica) has information that would be helpful but have not had any such information to date. I don’t know where to go now but my daughter and my grandchildren are now asking questions about my side of the family. It would be helpful to find out more about my history. Any suggestion would be much appreciated. Thanks Colin Notify Administrator about this message?
