These are just the usual ways to proceed with family research, with all our ancestors, not just the adopted ones......census are the logical place to look for family, and as those 1850 or later contain the names of children, they are particularly helpful. Before 1850, the children are only enumerated by sex and age, but this still gives you 'potential parents' to start researching. As far as the other suggestions go, I think we all need #1...pose our questions to groups of folks researching the same area...
#2) get our names of interest, along with your own name, out there on the internet, anywhere and everywhere we can.I've been contacted, years after posting someplace or other, by someone who read an oldpost or query and has info to add....so, hope you get lucky.
