Valentine Adolph was born 28 Jan 1862 inErnolsheim-lès-Saverne, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France. His parents were Valentine Adolph, Sr. (1823-1900) and Elizabeth Suzette Schnell (1825-1916). He had 3 sisters and a brother. His sisters were Elizabeth (1859-1938), Salome "Sarah" (1864-1930) and Catherine (1866-?). His brother was Charles (1868-1869).
On 10 Sep 1872 (not 1862) he and his family (with the exception of Charles who had already died) arrived in New York on the ship "Denmark".
According to his naturalization papers (which I have) he was naturalized on 2 Oct 1880.
Valentine married Sylvia Leota Kinney (1875-1973), the daughter of Francis Marion & Mary Jane (Stotts) Kinney in 1897.
Valentine & Sylvia had 5 children...
1. Bernard Lorenzo (1895-1973)
2. Francis (1901-1976)
3. Edna (1904-?)
4. Harvey Lester (1909-1978)
5. Isabelle S. (1912-2011)
Valentine died in Madison Twp., Muskingum, Ohio on 26 Sep 1943.
I have a lot of info on the Adolphs, Becks & Birkhimers who were all from the same general area in Alsace and who tended to inter-marry and live in and around the Dresden, Ohio area if you're interested. for example, I have pictures of Valentine & Sylvia as well French birth, marriage & death records, etc.
Hope this helped you out a bit. :)
