Hello Adkison/Adkinson researchers:

I have not been able to tie my Adkison line to Britton Adkison, and most of the info on Adkisons on the Web are his descendants.

I have over 10,000 people in my tree, but only have 112 Adkisons. If anyone thinks they might be able to connect to my Adkison line, please take a look at my files at WorldConnect at this link: http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi (Search for Hampton Adkison).

My oldest "proven" relative is Hampton Peter Adkison b.1817 and lived in Saline Co., IL in 1850. I believe he was born there and married his first wife Elizabeth Schultz/Shults.

Hampton was in Desha Co., AR in 1860 and 1870, and moved to Bosque Co., TX before the 1880 census. All show he was born in IL.

In other places his name is also spelled Adkinson and Adkisson.

Rumor has his father as C.S. Adkison from AL, KY, or TN. A possible brother of C.S. was John C. Adkison born in 1788 in TN.

Possible sons of C.S. and siblings of Hampton are: Luke, Charles Schultz (b.1827, TN), Wesley (b.1822, TN), and William (b.1830). I am almost certain that Charles Schultz Adkison was his brother because they both lived in Bosque Co., TX, and two of their grandchildren married there. Also, if you have information that shows Hampton was not a sibling, please contact me.

If you are connected to this line or think there is a chance you might be able to connect Hampton or C.S. to your line, please contact me.

Regards,
