Debbie. I may be able to help you sort out some of the confusion concerning Surilda Adkins. She was married twice that I know of. I think you may be having trouble b/c her name was different on her second marriage and on her headstone. All information listed below came strictly from marriage records. I'll start with her parent's marriage. You may have all of this but in case you don't--here goes!
My records show she was born April 27, 1860 and possibly died in 1918. Still working on this part of info.
Jackson Adkins md. America Adkins on 3-26-1854 Wayne Co. He was 20 and she was 16. He was the s/o H. & N. Adkins and she was the d/o J. & D. Adkins.
Surilda married first, John K. Napier on 8-5-1876 Wayne Co. Both were 16 years old and single. Her parents are listed as Jack & A. Adkins. His parents are listed as Wm. & N. Napier. If you subtract her age from 1876, she would have been born abt. 1860.
She married 2nd, John L. Adkins on 6-10-1880 in Wayne Co. This marriage record lists both as 21 years old. She is listed as DIVORCED. John's parents are listed as Parker and Lucinda Adkins and her parents are listed as Jackson & America Adkins. They were married at the house of Jackson Adkins. Now for the possible reason of your trouble finding out much about her---- this 2nd marriage record has her name as "Sinderilda Adkins". Her headstone also has this name.
