Thanks for responding, Lynda. The reason for my request is that my husband has strong circumstantial evidence that he belongs to this particular Adkins family but his DNA does not match any of Mary's male descendants who have been tested so far or the male descendants of William Adkins & Elizabeth Parker.
This brings up the question of whether or not Mary's children may have had more than one father. We are looking for a female descendant of Mary who would be willing to do a mitrochondrial DNA test along with my husband's sister. One of the DNA project coordinators suggested this.
I believe, though, that such a test would lead to Mary only if you descend from one of her daughters. I need to research this a little further to be certain. If it proves to be a feasible approach, would you be willing to have your DNA tested if we help pay for the test?Or do you know any other Adkins females who might descend from one of Mary's daughters?
I believe some of Jacob's male descendants have been tested. Correct? If so, we already know his DNA does not match my husband's DNA. If you would like to share more Adkins family information, you may e-mail me at asaatkins(at)comcast.net.
Again, I appreciate your response.
