Helena Parazade Adkins
b.Feb. 8, 1857 Wayne Co. WV
d.Feb. 17, 1927 Cabell Co., WV

I'm interested in learning more about Helena, her son Otto Herbert and daughter Emma Lena. My area of interest concerns the names themselves. Where did the name Otto come from? Is it a Mills family name, or Adkins? Can another Otto be found in the Adkins family?
I assume Lena is derived from Helena, but where did Helena get her name---Helena Adkins Gilkerson---any other Helenas found--Helena Parker??
I have an ancestor, General Mason Adkins(b.1855-1870-Oct.1861) who I can't place with any particular Adkins line in Wayne Co., though all indications are that he was born there & married there & lived(Stonewall Dist./East Lynn) most of his life there. I don't have a birth or death record for him. I can't place him in the 1860, 1870, 1880 census records for Wayne Co--however, thus far, I can't find him in any state's census records for those years.
His childern's names are Pinkie, Georgia, Lena, and Otta(o/ie).
On Helena's death certificate, it lists Geo. Adkins of VA as her father. I'd like to have information about this man. I know Helena is listed as a daughter of Tillman and Surrilda Adkins, so if anyone can explain "the Geo.(George) as father", I'd appreciate it.
I'm familiar with the story of Helena being raised by Leander and Helena Gilkerson. I'd like further information about this.
