Scott,
I'm answering an old post, and I can't get your e-mail to work.
The Adkins name keeps popping up in my research, so I'll tell you what little I know.
My husband's great-grandfather A. K. Johnson married second Emma Stewart Adkins, widow of Lon Adkins.I know that Lon and Emma had a daughter Vera.Vera married Sam Houston Martin, son of Lydia Mayes and Lewis Cass Martin.Lydia is half-brother to A. K. Johnson.
Maybe this will help:
Macy Evans m. Martin V. Johnson, Washington County, AR, 1855
2) Arkansas "Kans" Johnson--A. K.(married first Edith Elvira McKinney, second Emma Stewart Adkins)
2) Lafayette Johnson
Macy Evans married second John Woodson Mayes
2) Lydia Mayes
Lydia Mayes m. Lewis Cass Martin
2) Sam Houston Martin m. Vera Adkins, daughter of Lon Adkins and Emma Stewart
Lon Adkins died.Emma Stewart Adkins then married A. K. Johnson.I have a feeling Lon is somehow related to a Larkin Adkins I found on the 1880 census next door to Hadden and Collins families (related to Johnson). One of Larkin's daughters married a Collins. Also, he is buried at Tigertown Cemetery, Lamar County, TX, with all our Collins folks.
Lon is buried at New Salem Cemetery in adjacent Fannin County. They buried Emma next to him, and A. K. is buried next to his first wife in Lamar Co.
You won't be interested in this part, but it ties in with Larkin Adkins.
Leslie A. Johnson, son of A. K. Johnson, married Sallie R. Collins, daughter of Robert M. Collins and Cora B. Hadden.
1880 Census Lamar Co., TX
Larkin Adkins 53 TN wife Mary H. (daughter Lewellen, now widow, married a Collins)
NEXT DOOR:
Mary Hadden (daughter Cora, 14, will marry Robert M. Collins--these are my husband's great-grandparents)
NEXT DOOR:
John L. Collins (and son Robert M.)
Sincerely,
Gene Johnson
