I can partly answer your question. Yes, Owen was a Baptist minister in both Kentucky and in Indiana. He is buried in the Richland Creek Cemetery on the hill behind a church but I don't have a record of the church's name or denomination.
I've checked my Indiana road map and it doesn't give enough detail to help. However it's not very close to Smithville.
Going west on In.48 from Bloomington is Whitehall in Owen County. I have that as the place Owen died in 1853. Also the 1850 census has him in Monroe Co., Van Buren TWP. Could have been right on the line or it could have changed. My branch of the family moved on to Iowa soon after his death and belonged to the Disciples of Christ or 1st Christian Church from then on. Don't know why. I need to look at the Indiana Topographic Map book to find the area better. If I find out more I'll let you know.
