Thank you Patty, have worked on that too. Find many melungeon lines in the Adkins. We must not forget, that the Bur. of Indian Affairs were not slack in their work to ensure that the rolls were a correct record of the native people. The name Adkins/Atkinsis in excess of over 400 names on the Dawes alone. Also names like Hill, Cantrell, Lemaster, Minix ,Grant , Hicks, Williams, Martin, ect. ect. ect.In another listing in this forum I told a old family story of an Adkins who was suppose to be a Peats by blood. Was stolen by the Indians, and raised as one of their own. I was married to an Adkins from Greenup co. Ky. His mother was a Hill,They were all Indian. Sure we all have English, Irish, Scotch, & German some where but very few are pure in any way. Many of the Adkins/Atkins are on the Rolls as full blood Creek & Cherokee Indians. I am not on the Rolls , but I am proud of every drop of native blood , Melungeon & English if there is any that has not been deluted. I do not think it was romanic fable to be indianback then. The native people were raped of their land, homes, even their spiritual self.as we speak there are many who are being persacuted for their native blood in their vains. L.P. is the initial of one in Leavanworth, Kansas. Bless you and Happy Hunting. Dorothy Moore
