Judy, I just came across your posting. Evidently, you and I are cousins. Here is what I have for household #141/ dwelling #141 on p. 367-68 of the 1860 federal census of Carroll Co, GA: HANNER, Thomas/47/m/carpenter/$200/NC " Mary/36/f/keeping house/GA " Nancy/19/f/ditto/GA " Margaret M./16/f/(none)/GA " John/15/m/farmer/GA " Mary/13/f/(none)/GA " Thomas/11/m/(none)/GA [p. 368 begin] " Elizabeth/9/f/(none)/GA " Susan/7/f/(none)/GA " Amanda/4/f/(none)/GA " George/4/m/(none)/GA " Joseph/2/m/(none)/GA ADERHOLD, Margaret/80/f/midwife/NC Margaret ADERHOLD is indeed the widow of John George ADERHOLD and evidently mother to Mary (ADERHOLD) HANNER(S). Tallapoosa Co, AL, Marriage Records, Vol. I (1834-1863), edited by Robert C. & Julia F. HORN (1989) shows: Thomas HANNER and Mary ADERHOLD, 06 OCT 1839, Joseph SIMMONS, bondsman; Peter DUDLEY, Justice of the Peace (Book 1, p. 105). Mary is believed to be the youngest child of John George & Margaret, and most if not all of the given names of Thomas and Mary's children occur among the family of George & Margaret. I would like to exchange with you records regarding this family. My direct line comes down through Mary's brother, George W. ADERHOLD who m. 1842 in Carroll Co, GA to Nancy Elizabeth BAILEY (my mother's gg-grandparents). Please contact me privately at retrofit@flash.net if you would -- thanks.
