Does anyone have a copy of the Carrollton GA 1860 Census? I only have the index. The index was transcribed by a gentleman who said it was hard to read and could have mispellings. I believe Margaret who was 80 yrs old at the time and living with Elizabeth and Thomas Hanners was John George's wife Margareth. The dates work. My mother Julia Marlyn Harper Downey is the daughter of James Wesley Harper and Julia Lee Gray. James Wesley's father William Edward Harper came from Carrollton Ga to NE Alabama. William Edward Harper married Amanda Missouri Hanners or Aderholt. My mom was not sure if one of the names might have been a step father or her maiden name. Someone alerted me to a Amanda M. age 5 on the Carrollton Ga 1860 Census. My records show Amanda Missouri Hanner/Aderholt born Carrollton GA 1853/4.
Most of what I have is personal knowledge of my mother Julia Marlyn Harper 78 and still working. My family has a long life gene some where. Aunt Amanda died 15 Oct 1948 when she was 95 years old and is buried in Birmingham, AL.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
