ADERHOLD-SEWELL GA > TX & Mrs. Grace BACCUS

Seeking information on whereabouts of Mrs. Grace BACCUS or her family. Grace (maiden name unknown) grew up near Gilmer in Upshur Co, TX. Mrs. BACCUS began researching her family history in 1958 and continued for many years before having to set her avocation aside to attend to other matters. She was a granddaughter of Henry Levi SEWELL, Jr. (b. ca. 1845 GA), who was a son of Henry Levi & Elizabeth (ADERHOLD) SEWELL from Franklin Co, GA. They moved to TX about 1870 and are buried in Bryan, Brazos Co, TX. Grace mentioned an Aunt Willie and had a sister-in-law by the name of ANDERSON whose parents were reared in TX. Grace had two daughters: one of them (name not given), whose husband had died "many years ago" as of 1978, resided in Slidell, St. Tammany Par, LA; the other daughter, Jean (Mrs. J. R.) MATTHEWS, had resided overseas and most recently in Alaska before moving to Plano, Collin Co, TX, where she lived at 2400 Heather Hill Lane. Her husband was an oil company employee who had to retire because of poor health. In 1978, they moved to Ardmore, Carter Co, OK. By this time, Grace BACCUS had broken up housekeeping and was living with one daughter for a while, then with the other, and much of her research was in storage.

Any assistance in locating this cousin or her family would be appreciated. Henry Levi SEWELL (b. 1812 GA) m. 18 OCT 1838 in Franklin Co, GA to Elizabeth ADERHOLD (b. 07 FEB 1818). Henry's brother Charles Woodson SEWELL (1814 GA-1884) m. 27 FEB 1840 in Franklin Co, GA to Catherine ADERHOLD (05 DEC 1812 - 1887), Elizabeth's sister. These were daughters of Abraham & Sarah (HARBER) ADERHOLD, and I am told Henry and Charles were sons of John SEWELL, b. 1788 VA. I have some information on the background and descendants of these families I would be glad to share. Thanks - John Mallory Land <retrofit@flash.net>
