My husband's great great grandmother was an Aderholt. Her name was L. Elizabeth (Betty is on her grave)Aderholt and she married Lawrence Sylvester Rains September 23, 1883 at her father's home in Etowah County, AL. She was born in 1866 according to Census records and was the youngest daughter of John Abraham (Abe)Aderhold/t and Elizabeth Jane Parker.

By the 1880 Census L. Elizabeth's mother, Elizabeth Parker Aderholt, is dead and Polina (17), Elizabeth (14), and James (12) are the only ones living at home.

In the 1850 Census, in Gaston Co., NC I find Abraham, a miller, and born in NC and Elizabeth (age 26 and 23) living with a Rufus Crouse (age 26), Mary A. (age 24), Sarah (age 2), and David P. M. (age 9/12).

In the 1860 Census for Calhoun Co., AL in the Jacksonville PO area I find Abraham Adderholt (age 36) born in NC and
Elizabeth J. (age 33)born in TN living with
B.M.M. age 9 a female born in NC
Sarah E. C. age 7 a female born in AL
William S. age 5 a male born in AL
Eliza C. age 1 a female born in AL
Frances L. age 4 a female born in AL

In the 1870 Census for Etowah Co., AL in the Attalla PO area I find an Abe Adiholt, age 46 a miller and farmer born in AL (I believe this entry to be wrong) and an Elizabeth, age 43, born in TN living with
Sallie (Sarah) age 18
Wm age 16
Lucy (this is Frances Lucinda) age 14
Katy (this is Eliza Catherine) age 11
Polena age 9
Elizabeth age 4
James age 1

I have contacted a Roberta Taylor (RTaylor844@aol.com) who descends through Frances Lucinda for further checks and verifications on this Aderholt line.

I would like to see a clear ancestor line from this John Abraham Aderhold/t if you have it available. Also, I know that this Aderhold/t family was a family of millers, I'd like to know a little more about this part of the family history as I know that L. Elizabeth's father, John Abraham, was a miller and helped to start mills across North East Alabama. One, namely, the Aderhold/t mill in Jacksonville.

Any information would be a blessing and I'd be happy to fill in the descendant line if you want.

Blessings,

Jill Watters Rains
