In Reply to: John Simeon Addy, Sr.-(1779 - 1841) SC by Dr. Robert E. Smith of 502

The land grant received by Solomon Addy in SC after he left Ebenezer,GA, indicates that he had a wife and two children. In a number of places the Salzburger Reports refer to his two sons, leaving little doubt that Johann Heinrich and Friedrich are both his sons. Solomon was from Tubingen,Wurttemburg,Germany- Sources:The GA Dutch by G.F.Jones and The Detailed Records of the Salzburgers.Solomon and family are mentioned in several of the volumes.

John Simeon Addy b.1779, along with Jacob,George,Simeon,Henry b.17Feb1788,and Barbara b.4Mar1768 who married George Wheeler, are said to be siblings. Simeon and Mary Magdalene Addy are the most likely candidates to be their parents. They are certainly the parents of Henry for it is written on his tombstone. Henry and Jacob received a land grant together in 1809 in Lexington District,SC.Thus one concludes they are siblings. Also Barbara named all of her sons John plus the given name of each of her brothers-John George,John Simeon,John Jacob and John Henry. Barbara named her daughter Mary Magdalene. There is a missing link to Solomon and Margaret, but no end to the speculations of their relationship to this crowd. One possibility is that Friedrich or Johann had a "Rufname" of Simeon.
