I now remember that Grandpa was born in Norfolk Va, in 1845. I have my dads death certificate and military records, but they do not show my dads parents names. I am working to get his birth certificate. My uncle told me that their dad had 14 kids. I do not know if he ment they were all his or if some was step. He said Grandpa was in his 50's when he married the second time, His spouse was only 18. Her maiden name was Olds. I looked up Olds and they are primaraly in the Cal. area which is where Grandpa married.
