Richard, I found Thomas Benton in the book "The Addingtons of VA-The Descendants of William Addington & Margaret Cromwell" by Nancy Clark Brown and Rhonda Robertson.
"No. 37 Thomas Burton Addington, son of William III and Nancy (Kilgore) Addington was born November 18, 1848 in Scott Co (now Wise Co) VA; died 1924 in Lincoln Co KY, buried at Pond Ridge in Linciln Co KY. Married January 8, 1867 in Wise Co VA to Mary Jane Salyer b. April 4, 1848 Scott Co VA died July 12, 1919 in Lincoln Co KY buried at Pond Ridge, daughter of Robert Shanklin and Anna (Vicars)Salyers.
Records indicate that Thomas also used Benton as a middle name.

"No. 5 William Addington, III son of William II and Sarah (Stallard) Addington was born Oct 19 1819 in Scott Co VA on the Clinch River; died Nov 15, 1892 in Pike Co KY. The Wise Co Death Register states his cause of death was "gravel". The tombstone of William II lists his death date as Dec 12 1892. He is buried in the Addington Cemetery on South of the Mountain near Pound, Wise Co VA.
Married Nancy Kilgore b. Oct 20 1825 in Scott Co VA, died Jan 26 1909in Pike Co KY. Nancy is buried along side to William. She was the daughter of Ralph and Amelia (Wheatley) Kilgore. (Richard, Ralph and Amelia are also my ancestors)
The records of Wise Co VA show that William was excepted from service in the Civil War on July 10 1862 due to a fracture of the left leg.
William and Nancy were of the Old Regular Baptists, having their fellowship at the Pilgrim's Rest Church on Beefhide Creek.

William Addington II, son of William and Margaret (Cromwell) Addington b. Sept 9, 1783 Caswell Co NC, d. June 20, 1857 Scott Co VA of melancholy. Married about 1807 to Sarah Stallard b. abt 1790 Washington Co (now Scott Co)VA d. abt 1867 in Scott Co VA. Daughter of Samuel and Jael (Duncan) Stallard (also my ancestors)
William Addington, II signed the petition to form Scott Co VA in 1814 as Willian Edenton. Wm was a blacksmith by trade and built and owned a wool carding mill near McClain's Fish Trap referred to in later deed as Bevin's Branch, Benge Branch or Benge's Branch.
After the death of William II, Sarah is found on the 1869 census of Scott Co VA residing with her daughter-in-law, Harriet Quillen Addington wife of son James. Sarah is listed as a spinster-one who spins wools and Harriet as a weaver. In Sarah's later years she gained so much weight that a canoe was constructed to float her down the river to church.
One of the authors of the book Nancy Clark Brown owns the mantle from the home of William and Sarah.
