Your immigrant Addington is John's grandfather,
Henry Addington, b. South London 1720. He came to
VA about 1768 when he leased 150 a. near the Potomac
river in VA for 80 pounds. There is a map and
tons of info on descendants i the book "Addington,
a directory of the descendants of Henry and Sarah
Addington of Union County, SC". I found it through
inter-library loan at the San Fransisco public
library. I did copy some pages. E-mail me for
more info if you can't get a hold of a copy of the
book.
