Lucille Adcock Lumpkin (sons obit)
LUMPKIN MR. HORACE LANDRUM died August 6, 2001, in Plano, TX. He was born June 6, 1927, in Gainesville, Texas, to Horace Landrum Lumpkin, Sr. and Lucille Adcock Lumpkin. He resided all his life in Dallas and Frisco, Texas. He graduated from Forest Avenue High School, Dallas and University of Texas at Arlington. He served in the United States Army Air Corp, Air Force, and Air Force Reserve. He was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. as an engineer, Pearl Morris Real Estate as a broker, and Frisco Independent School District as a tax collector. In retirement he worked for the City of Frisco Tax Office. He was married to Jean McCoin Lumpkin on October 14, 1949. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Dr. Michael D. Lumpkin and Dr. Richard S. Lumpkin. His sons were his greatest joy and he felt his greatest accomplishment. Other survivors include his brother, Jesse Gerald and his wife, Bettye Lumpkin of Coppell, Texas; his sister, Marcia Lumpkin Grant and her husband, Jackie Grant of Mesquite, Texas, as well as many nieces and nephews. A cousin, Billie Jean and her husband, Floyd Lumley of Malvern, Arkansas. He was known for his quite manner and had many friends who admired his always being forthright. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, Frisco on Wednesday, August 8, 2001 at 10;30 a.m. Interment will be at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m., 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway; Dallas 75211 with Rev. Russell Floyd and Rev. Gayle Landis officiating. Visitation will be at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday August 7, 2001 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home 2525 Central Expressway at US 75 (Exit 38) & Ridgeview Dr., McKinney, TX. 972-424-7834.
