TO Nora Schuller:John Adcock - I term him "old John," of Granville County, NC came from eastern Virginia to Gran.Co. in 1746 or 1748 and was granted land there by the British Earl of Granville. He was among a group of about 30 surnames who termed themselves the "Queens Creek Club."Queens Creek is near York, VA in the tidewater. The Adcocks had actually moved out of the tidewater area some years earlier. He died in Granville Co. in 1780.According to his will, he had four sons, John, Leonard, Bolling and Edward. Leonard, Bolling and Edward all died in Granville County and have wills there.John (the son) does not have a will there, but the son John had at least 8 daughters and three sons - John, Barnett and Andrew (possibly more - maybe Burroughs and maybe James.Leonard had two sons-according to his will, Leonard andLinson.Leonard the son of Leonard left Granville during the Rev. War.Linson moved out of Granville in the early 1800's. There is a Levin who is related, who left Granville Co. about the time Linson did. If you will check all the information in this web page, there is much information concerning this Dorsett situation and Leonard Adcock. There are several others who appear to have investigated this particular family in detail and can probably help you.
