JOHNADAY was my ggg grandfather.
He was born Abt. 1795 in TN?, and died April 22, 1856 in Huntsville (Madison Co)., AL.He had military service: during the War of 1812, and was captured near Mobile. He married (1) HANNAH BRACKEN April 20, 1820,daughter of JAMES BRACKEN and SALLEY JEFFRERS.He married (2) HARRIETT CARMICHAEL May 18, 1842,daughter of DANIEL CARMICHAEL and FRANCIS SIMMONS.
:
Some researchers believe, based on census data,he had a 2nd son by his 1st marriage. This son has not been identified. The 1850 Madison Co. AL census list children of 2nd marriage page 455 and 1860 page 13.However, children listed born before1842 are from Harriett's 1st marriage to Samuel H. Evans. According to Huntsville Advocate May 14, 1856, John Aday was one of the oldest citizens of Huntsville when he died.
Children of JOHN ADAY and HANNAH BRACKEN are:
i. MARCILLA2 ADAY, b. August 20, 1823, Huntsville ?, AL; d. April 20, 1902, Tuscumbia, AL; m. (1) WILLIAM.
H. W. STREET, September 17, 1839, Madison Co. AL; m. (2) JOHN CARMICHAEL, September 01, 1851,
Madison Co AL; Probably m . (3) JOSEPH DAVIDSON, October 16, 1860, Madison Co AL.
That there was a third marriage is a family tradition which has not been proven. She appears to have dropped the name Davidson of her third husband and went back to using the name Carmichael of her 2nd husband later in life.
ii. LORENZO DOW ADAY, b. 1822, Alabama; m. (1) MARTHA STREET, July 15, 1841, Madison Co(page 583)
AL; m. (2) SARAH E. SISK, January 08, 1852, Madison Co.(Page 898) AL.
Children of JOHN ADAY and HARRIETT CARMICHAEL are:
iii. CATHERINE2 ADAY, b. Abt. 1843.
iv. JOHN ADAY, b. November 29, 1847, Huntsville (Madison Co)., AL; d. December 31, 1896; m. MONA
ESKIN.
Notefor this JOHN ADAY:Information on Descendants from Aday Family Digest 173
v. GEORGE ADAY, b. Abt. 1851.
vi. MARIAH ADAY, b. Abt. 1855.
John F. Aday was another person who also lived in Huntsville, Madison Co., Alabama at the same time. He married Margarett Cowen.Until my John Aday died, he always used the middle initial "F" to prevent confusion with my ancestor, his possible uncle.
