Adamski is a polish name. The problem is that there was many families called so. One is from Gory (mountains) Swietokrzyskie and I am from this family. This is near Klielce. I know also, that there was many Adamskis in Posen (PoznaƱ, Poznan), Wilno (Belarus now), and many of them emigrated to USA & Germany.
Why there is so many different Adamski families? Because this name was given to village people, who previously had no his own field (chlop panszczyzniany) and was the ground given in a special rule, probably in 1860. Till this moment they were named only by their christian name, for example Adam. After this statement each Adam (or son of Adam) became Adamski. Other origins of this name is also possible (or sure), because the first written notice of the name is dated ca 1750. It is possible that the name was given to some brave or loyal soldiers together with other nobilities (blazons etc).
My uncle is Mieczyslaw Adamski, but he may not be your father, because he is catholic priest. The rule of celibacy is still present :-(
