Leigh, do you know from where in Prussia Frederick hailed? do you have any sense of the origin of the Adams name in Germany?
In the Dictionary of German Names by Hans Bahlow (Madison WI 1993) it opens:
Adam, Adamy (Hebr., 'man made of clay' popular biblical name during the Reformation (Adam Riese).Adamek, Adamschik: E Ger. U. Sil; E Pruss. - Lith.: Adomeit...
It has also been suggested that "Adams" in the Baltic might indicate Swedish descent, e.g., Adamson.Any insights?
