Susan Adams, daughter of Robert Adams, was married to Benjamin Clark of Louisa County, Virginia where he was the farm manager of his father's farms.Benjamin Clark was the grandson of Francis Clark and wife Cordelia Lankford, married 1704/05 at William Porter's house in Henrico County, Virginia. Benjamin's parents were Joseph Clark and Mary Beverly of Louisa County, Virginia and of Anson County, North Carolina where Joseph owned farms and fisheries. Robert Adams was a lawyer for Louisa, Goochland and Albemarle Counties, Virginia. He was the lawyer who settled the estate of Sarah Henry, wife of John Patrick Henry, Jr. before he became Governor of Virginia in 1775. Sarah Henry became deranged after the birth of her sixth child and was held in the cold basement in a straitdress at their home, Scotchtown, before she died. J. Patrick Henry sold Scotchtown in 1773; Wm. Whitlock and John Clark were two of the witnesses to the deed.History and genealogy state that J. Patrick Henry, Jr. was first married to Sarah Shelton, of John Shelton, the neighbor of the Clark and Henry families in Louisa. There is a deed in Louisa County in 1770 that names Sarah Clark as now "Sarah Henry," her whereabouts, unknown.
