I began to research the ADAMS family of BARBOUR COUNTY, ALABAMA about two years ago. One can find voluminous documentation as well as living persons with personal knowledge of this family. However, sources of information are so scattered and disconnected that construction of even a valid 3-generation family tree is difficult. It appears some individuals have family bible records and other documents of interest. But I could not find an online, centralized repository for information pertaining to the Adams families of Barbour County, Alabama.
To meet this need, I created a home page to facilitate research and hopefully develope a broad, accurate online Adams family tree. The Adams home page is located at: http://www.genealogy.com/users/a/d/a/Albert-Adams-2/. The selection of John Allen Adams (born 14 Sept 1845) as a focal point is somewhat arbitrary. I selected this individual because the dates and places asssociated with his personal history appear to be as well documented as the information available for any of his descendants.
The scope of this tree extends to all persons related (by blood or marriage) to John Allen Adams. The intent is to encompass all of the Adams families of Barbour County, Alabama, and all of their ancestors and descendants. Assistance is requested from anyone who can provide an accurate reconstruction of one or more family groups know or believed to be related to John Allen Adams.
