Margaret,
Do you have any Phillip, Riley, Henry, George, Abraham or Coonrod Adams in your records?
My Philip Adams born c1738 and can be found in deed records in Catawba, Rowan, Tryon, Burke, Lincoln Counties.
Phillip Adams died July 1776 in and Indian ambush on the John's River in the Quaker Meadows area near Morganton in Burke County(later Lincoln County) NC.
Phillip left his wife Catharine and several young Adams children [all born in NC].
Philip's wife, Catherine [aka Caty], and the children of Philip Adams can later be found in Lincoln County, KY, then later in Washington County, KY.
It is assumed that some of Caty and Phillip Adams' children were married in NC prior to the move to KY.The Adams children found being married in KY were married in Lincoln County, KY 1788-1793.
Widow Caty Adams remarries a man by the name of Christopher Haner/Heynor as both Christopher and Caty/Catherine Haner sign as securities for the KY marriage bonds on the Adams children.
Caty Haner's husband, Christopher, remains on the Lincoln County, KY tax lists until 1808.Caty cannot be found in the 1810 Lincoln County, KY census as HOH nor is she enumerated with any of her Adams children residing in Washington County, KY.
When Caty Haner writes her Washington County, KY will she only names one child, son Coonrod Adams and she also names only one granddaughter, Polly Bryant.Research reveals that Josiah Bryant received land in Washington County, KY and he had a son John W. Bryant who married a Mary Adams.
In looking at the 1810 census of Jefferson County, KY, John Bryan and his wife Polly Adams do have a elder female [age 45+] living with them.I ASSUME that this is Caty Adams Haner residing with her granddaughter and thus this is why she is left inheritance [for taking care of her grandmother].
After the 1819 death of Caty Haner the family of John and Polly (Adams) Bryan removed to Indiana. The Adams children of Caty Haner who were in Washington county, KY removed to Missouri [my line ended up in Lincoln County, MO].
I am wondering if your Ephraim and his Bryan connections may connect with my Adams of NC>KY family who also have Bryan connections?
Tina
