Middleton B. & William M. Adams - Confederate Soldiers
I am a document trader & collector & today purchased a very exciting document. It is an original muster roll for a Confederate unit - the 9th Battalion Georgia Infantry. The roll lists a couple of Adams' - Middleton B and William M.
I did a little additional research and learned that Middleton's residence was Elbert County, GA and that he enlisted on 3/4/1862 as a private into Co. D of the 9th Battalion of Georgia Volunteers. On May 6th, 1863 he was transferred into Co. G of the 37th GA Infantry. He was also listed as a POW on 10/28/64 and was released 6/17/1865 from Camp Douglas in Chicago, IL.His records are recorded in the national archives under Film number M226 Roll 1.
William M. Adams also enlisted on 3/4/1862 into Co. D.He was listed as being detailed 12/15/1862 to a hospital in Knoxville. His records are under the same film number as Middleton.
The dates on the muster roll that I have are from the date of enlistment 3/4/1862 to the 30th day of April, 1862.On the roll William is listed as being sick at the hospital in Marietta, GA and Middleton is listed as "sick at Camp Van Horn, Tenn.".
I am glad to offer pictures of this very rare document to descendants. Can anyone tell me if these two soldiers are kin to each other?
Thanks,
Joy Shivar
