Hi Don
We are related as my great great grandfather was Alexander ADAM, brother of David. My grandfather was ANDREW ADAM and lived in Banchory Ternan. His sons never married. Only my cousins remain in Scotland. I live on the south coast of England but go back to Banchory every 2 or 3 years.
I have traced further back and I've also done quite a bit of work on the Leighton family (James another brother of David married his cousin Isabel(la). On the Adam side
Katharin(e) Merchant (born abt 1700)married Wm FORBES (born abt 1694) on 4 June 1719 in Kincardine O'Neil their daughter Margaret born 27 March 1720 in K O'N was married twice, firstly to John Duncan and then to William Adam (born 1721)his younger son William Adam married Jane Leighton. His brother was John born 6 July 1750 at K O'N. The parents of William Adam (born 1721)were Gilbert Adam and Jean Frans. They also had a daughter Euphemia born 18 Jan 1711 in Banchory Ternan. Other children unknown.
I first visited the Aberdeen and North east Scotland family history society and purchased a pamphlet of churchyard transcriptions for Strachan. I have also bought some certificates from the GRO Scotland website and I have used the LDS website extensively to find the links. I hope this is helpful
Best wishes Hilary
