I am searching for Joseph Adam, or any members of his family last heard of living in Rochester, New York in 1976.
Joseph Adam was a son of James Adam a former alderman in Victoria, British Columbia. James Adam was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland January 28, 1882. He moved to Canada to live with his parents (father Robert Adam and brothers William and George) when he was quite young, and the family went to live in Nanaimo, British Columbia. In 1894 he was playing soccer for Nanaimo Thistles, and in 1901 moved from Nanaimo to neaby Ladysmith, then in 1912 to Victoria. He was an alderman (member of council) in Victoria from 1926 until his death March 20, 1939.
He married Gertrude, born Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. In 1924 James Adam managed the Canadian all-star soccer team that toured Australia and in 1927 the team that toured New Zealand. He was a mamber of the council of the Dominion of Canada Football (Soccer) Association from 1922 to at least 1934.
James Adam and his wife had four children all born in Victoria. James Blair Adam died in New Westminster, B.C. February 21, 1940. Elaine Adam (Mrs G. Maycock) died in Victoria, June 12, 1976, and her sister Margaret Adam (Mrs Jervis Stephenson) died in Toronto, April 28, 1968. At the time of Elaine's death it was noted that she had a brother Joseph and family living in Rochester, New York. Would anyone know if any members of this family is still living in Rochester today?
