In "Cherokee Planters in GA . . ." page 39 is found "Walter Scott Adair (1791-1854), known as "Red Watt," was born in Pendleton Dist., SC, where he was elected sheriff when a young man. A son of Edward Adair . . . young Walter had been educated at the best of schools, later moved into the Cherokee Nation and took a reservation of 640 acres in Hall Co., GA under the treaty of 1819. In the 1820's he became a Chief Justice of the Cherokee Supreme Court. " I do not have this book, but had copied a few pages out of it.
