This is some information that I found while searching for my Cherokee lineage.
James Robert Adair,Sr. was b.1709 in Antrim, Ireland, and died 1783. He married ----Cherokee. She was b. c 1710. He married (2)Ester McBride June 11, 1734. She was b. 1710.
James came to the colonies around 1730 and served in the Revolutionary War and is listed on a marble tablet placed by the DAR on the front inside wall of Duncan's Creek Presbyterian Church.(SC)
Children of James and Cherokee were:
John Adair b. 1753
Edward Adair,Sr, b. 1755; d. aug. 1820
James Adair,Jr. b. 1757

Beginning Adair line:

1 Alexander Adair b. c 1658. m/ Margaret Agnew, b. c 1660
Child:
Thomas Adair, b.1680, County Atrim, Ireland.

2 Thomas Adair b. 1680 m/ Margaret_____? b. 1680
Thomas with his family, landed in Chester Co.,Pennsylvania in 1730.
Between 1750& 1755 he moved to South Carolina and settled on Duncan's Creek in Laurens County.

Children of Thomas Adair and Margaret_____?
1. James Robert Adair,Sr. b. 1709, Antrim Co., Ireland
2. Joseph Adair,Sr. b. 1711, Atrim Co., Ireland; d.1801,in Laurens Co.,SC; m/ Sarah Laferty
3. William Adair,Sr. b. 1719, Ireland; d. Mercer Co., KY.
