Thank you, Lisa. I, too had Ann McCarty as the mother of Elizabeth Hobson Adair but had no documentation. Then I saw postings that gave other information. In one account I saw he was married to Ann McCarty. In another I saw he was married to an Elizabeth Hobson (which made sence considering Elizabeth Hobson Adair's middle name). I have also seen that Ann McCarty was Cherokee Indian. I had hoped since James Adair was so famous for his book on the Indians that there would be a solid record about his marriages and children, etc.
(I didn't know that Stephen Adair Cade had married Mary Kennedy. Mary, the d/o John Cade and Elizabeth Hobson Adair married William Riley Kennedy. Do you know the relation of Mary Kennedy and William Kennedy?)
