I wanted to post this information from the book "Old Cherokee Familes": Walter Scott Adair, b 28 Jan 1791; m 16 Nov 1824 Nannie Harris, b 1807. Walter was appointed Circuit Judge of Hickory Log and Hightower Districts by 1st Chief Pathkiller in 1820 because of the resignation of vice James Daniel. He was elected 12 Nov 1825 as one of the "Commissioners" to "lay off" the town lots of New Echota, capitol of the Cherokee Nation. He signed the constitution of 6 Sept 1839. Walter was the first Master of "Flint Lodge No. 21, A. F. and A. M., jurisdiction of Indian Territory. Flint lodge was the first established in the Indian Territory. He was elected Superintendant of the Education of the Cherokee Nation, successively, 3 Oct 1847, Oct 1849. Walter d 26 Sept 1854.
