Hi Cousin! I'm also seeking info on James Adair b. 1823 m. Melissa E. Carroll b. June 1829. I am James' ggg-grandaughter from his son Elijah S. Adair b. June 1851 GA. m. Sarah E. Ivie.
I have James' 1860 census showing him living in Pickins Co. GA. It reads as follows:
Truckwheel Dist. Pickins Co. Ga. June 8, 1860 Page 905.
James Adair age 37 Farmer b. TN
Malissa age 31 b. NC
William W. age 12 b. TN
Elijah S. age 10 b. GA
George M. age 8 b. GA
Mary J. age 6 b. GA
Elizabeth K. age 1 b. GA
On a 1850 Gilmer Co. 33rd Dist.Census I have:
James Adair age 28 Farmer b.TN
Melissa age 22 b. NC
William W. age 3 b.TN
Elijah S. age 1mo. b. GA
Arlsey Robison age 41 Female b. SC
Rachel M. Carroll age 13 b. NC
On the same census, same page, I have:
Andrew J. Carroll age 19 Farmer b.NC living in the Juleow Parker Household.
On the 1900 Whitfield Co. Rocky Face, GA Census I have Melissa (Listed as Emma M.- Mother) Living with Elijah S. Adair And Sarah. (Sarah's mother's name was Lucy, so I know it wasn't her mother)
I wonder if Arlsey Robison could be Melissa or James' mother? Her last name may be different if she was married more than once.
