_Some_ of the Adairs may have been Catholic, but most (if not all) of them came from Protestant Northern Ireland (County Antrim). Joseph Adair who settled in Laurens Co. SC in 1764 was definitely Presbyterian: he helped build the Duncan Creek Church in 1766. While the Adairs are undoubtedly related to the Royal Houses of Europe in various ways, making a definitive pedigree from the US to Ireland is extremely difficult, particularly if you want a _primary_ reference source for each generation.
