Thank you very much for the information.Your detailed information far exceeds what little I knew and opens up some new avenues for family research.I intend to look into these new leads further. There are several Goss family connections reaching forward to Arkansas and Oklahoma. In addition to Walter Adair and Rachel Thompson, there are several other possible family connections which are less well known.Of particular interest, Bryant Goss was from South Carolina about 1788 and reportedly married Matilda Thompson--moved on to Georgia. One of their sons, Gardner G. Goss (1813-1898), married Elizabeth Chandler (and one other) and settled in Cherokee Territory near Centre and Weiss Lake in Cherokee Co., Alabama, just across the Georgia line.Others in this same early family group included Willis Johnson (b: abt 1806 in NC) who married Nicey Goss;Matthew Goss (abt 1787-aft 1860) who married Margaret White; Samuel Goss (abt 1807-aft 1883) who married Mahulda Fowler White; and Henry J. Goss (1818-1900) who married Eliza Caroline Butler. This family group settled in middle-Mississippi near the very small farming community of Adair, Carroll Co., Mississippi.A curious coincidence?Several members of this family group originated from the area in and around Gwinnett Co., GA. Interesting, huh? Thanks again.
