Colonel Rory (Roger) O'Moore (bc.1620 in Laois, Ireland, d. 16 Feb 1655),
titular King of Laois, Ireland.
His uncle Rory Oge O'Moore, was King of Laois. After having over 180 members of his large family killed by the English crown at Mullaghmast, in an effort to pacify the native Septs of Laois, Rory Oge O’Moore became a lifelong enemy of Queen Elizabeth I of England, but this led to the downfall of the O'Moore family and left them destitute.
James MOORE, governor of South Carolina, bc.1640 in Ireland;
(possibly descendant of Roger Moore, the 1641 rebel),
d.1729 in Charleston, SC.
In 1665 he emigrated and settled in Charleston, SC.
In 1700-1703 was governor of the state.
In 1666 he m. Miss Yeamans, (dau. of Sir John Yeamans) and had 10 children :
