Naomi,
I came across info regarding who I think is your William Adaire. While searching for Bankstons in SC I found the following surnames: Bankston, Bankson, Adaire, Crocker, Hooper, Odear... all families who intermarried and all in Craven County! You'd have to send for the records, but it seems to be a good source of info.
