Hi Brenda,
THANK YOU so much for sharing this information on Samuel Mounts. I will continue to search for more on him and will share with you if I find anything. I'm in the D. A. R. and in the past, I've heard mentioned that David's father was a Revolutionary War soldier. Now that I have the name, it should only be a matter of time to find something to either prove or disprove his service. Hopefully we can find out the relationship between Absolum, John, and Samuel as well.

In case you needed info on Margaret Cline's father Peter, I found the following a couple days ago on page 65 in the book "Revolutionary War Pension Applications of Southwest Virginia Soldiers", by Mary B. Kegley, copyright 1997. This book is located in the Washington Co VA Historical Society in Abingdon, VA.

"PETER CLINE, Montgomery County, Virginia, Order Book 25, p. 336.
Montgomery County, Virginia, September 3, 1832, Peter Cline, a resident of Pike County, Kentucky, age 76 years, declared that he served in 1774 with Captain Henry Miller, Lieutenant Henderson, Major Patterson, and Lieutenant Colonel Potter, Colonel Cook, and ensign Taylor, and left the service some time in September 1777. He resided in Redingtown, Berks (?) County, Pennsylvania, at the time he entered service. He was engaged in the battles of Long Island, White Plains, Trenton, and Germantown. He marched from wide (White?) marsh in Pennsylvania to Germantown and back to Chestnut Hill and to the mouth of the Schuylkill and up to Valley Forge.

FOOTNOTE AT BOTTOM OF PAGE 65: "Peter Cline is not listed as a pensioner in the National Archives index under the spelling Cline, but a Peter Kline, who served in Pennsylvania, is listed under S22347; no other information in Montgomery County, Virginia."

Peter's father Nicholas Cline also served:

Nicholas Kline (Cline)
Nicholas was born about 1734 in Germany, died probably Wythe Co, VA after 1822. He married Mary circa 1754 probably in Germany. She was born circa 1736 Germany, died probably circa 1822.
Nicholas resided in Wythe Co, VA during the Revolution. He was an Ensign in the Montgomery Co, Militia.
