Hello Shirley:
Jesse Adair (Gentleman's Magazine, London, 1797) died 11
August 1797 at Lincoln, Lincolnshire although he is still listed as a Captain on 1/2 pay in 1801 in "List of the General and Field Officers as they rank in the Army ---".
Although I quickly searched once for Widows of Army officers, I found no Jesse or Anne Adair. Perhaps she received his pension for a few years.
I think, but have no proof, that Jesse was buried in Lincoln. His wife likely moved, after Jesse's death, to Fazeley, Tamworth, Staffordshire, where their only child Amelia Anne lived with her husband John Cleminshaw. John Cleminshaw was born in Fazeley and I believe resided in Fazeley/Tamworth his entire life. He was a school teacher.
The first child of John and Amelia Anne (Adair) Cleminshaw was Charles Graham Cleminshaw, my great great
grandfather. I have no new information on Jesse Adair. Robert Brooke
