Eight of these Adair marriages were in my family:
1. James Adair, b. 4 Apr 1822 & d. 4 Mar 1892 m. Emily Jane Jacobs 3 Feb 1848. Emily b. 16 Dec 1826 & d. 13 Nov 1875.
They had 5 children; the youngest was my grandmother, Kittie, b. 1862.
2. James Adair (same James) then married a second Emily Jane,
Emily Jane Cowvey, 13 Mar 1878. She was b. 27 Apr 1846.
They had 4 children. The first was b. 1879 (17 years after Kittie).
3. William T. Adair (the one who married Elizabeth Shepard) was the oldest child of James Adair and Emily Jane Jacobs.
4.-8. Brothers of James Adair:
William T. (the eldest brother who married Sally Carter.)
Richard (older than James)
Robert, Horatio, & Wilson (all younger than James)
I received the above information in 1959 from my Aunt who was Kittie's daughter and James' granddaughter. I have a photograph of James Adair.
