re: Scottish Regiments (c.1757)
Northern Ireland Establishment Scots :
Adair, Alexander (Philadelphia)
Adair, Thomas (Dublin)
Agnew, Henry, (New York City)

Perhaps there may be information on Thomas Adair, Dublin, in :
"Minions of Fortune": The Regimental Agents of Early Georgian England, 1714-1763. by Alan J. Guy.

i.e. Whitlock, Carlton, Major, Regimental Agent of Dublin.
Footnotes: 145-2
William Chaigneau, Esq. of Dublin was with Maj Carlton
Whitlocke, a regimental agent, representing principally
fomations on the Irish establishment.

Was there any connection between Alexander Adair of Philadelphia (possibly proprietor of the tavern in Chestnut Street) and Thomas Adair, Dublin ?

There appeared to be a William Adair, Army Agent, in Halifax, Albany, NY about 1752.

Some of the army soldiers from Ireland (Scotland & England) stayed in America after 1757 and reportedly received 50 acres of land.
