Hi Steve,

My Samuel and Jenny indeed has a son Samuel. The son Samuel is listed in the census of West Zorra township in Oxford County, Ontario as being 10 and 17 in the 1851 and 1861 census respectively. So your 1842 birth date would fit the horse shoes and hand grenades census. The son Samuel had siblings Hugh, and twin sisters Martha and Mary who were older, and younger John and Elizabeth. The oldest sibling was Ester who was old enough to have a family of her own at census time. Does this match your family?
