Thanks to all on this Adair/Pettit line. Yes, James Adair born 1790 in NC married Margaret Pettit. Margaret died in 1850 in White co. TN. Her father Thomas Pettit was living with James Adair and his children during the 1850 census of White Co. Thomas Pettit was 85 and born in VA.

Mortality Records, Tennessee for 1850 (Film 422433 FHC) list death of Margaret Adair #839. "In District 1-2-3 in the county of White, Margaret Adaire, age 60, female, white, married, place of birth, Tenn. died Mar. Reason not known.

You all have recently given me the probable marriage place of Margaret and James and I now have the death date of James through the obit. Thanks so much!

Since James Adair was born in 1790 I assume the James Adair on the 1794 list of jurors was possibly his father. Great new lead to work on.

My Adair/Pettit research is on World Connect Project through rootsweb if anyone in interested.
