In discussions regarding the pronounciation or variations in the pronounciations of the surname Addair (or Adair)with family it is often ended without resolution. Most say it with a long A sound, while others say it with the short u.I have lived in West Virginia, North Carolina, Alabama, and am currently living in Indiana. It seems to be mostly a distinction between those who were raised in the north and those who were raised in the south. Southern raised people prefer the pronounciation uh(short u)dare.
