Hello James,

Here is my lineage...

Father - Henry Addair

Grandfather - Thomas Addair

Great Grandfather - Henry Addair (born around 1864)

GG Grandfather - Moses Addair (born around 1830)

GGG Grandfather - John Addair (unknown birthdate)

GGGG Grandfather - James Addair

The extra "d" seemingly was added somewhere between 1830 and 1848... not sure.

A lawsuit brought by a Bill Miller in Virginia (I think around 1848) and family to complete the settlement of James Addair (Adair) Junior's (James Addair's son) estate shows both spellings. James Addair Jr. was my GGG Grandfather's (John's) half brother. James Addair Senior's father is unknown to me. I have my theories, however. Unproven to date.

I have my theories of why the name changed from Adair to Addair, but they too are unproven.

My GG Grandfather, Moses migrated to McDowell County WV (Tazwell, VA at the time) from VA. I was born in Welch WV. He became an orphan at around 9 years old.

James, you have to put the underscore (_) between Steven and Addair (Steven_Addair) plus the @yahoo.com.

My alternate e-mail is steve.addair@atlantacasualty.com.

Take care...

Steven Addair
