Evan Thomas and his wife Elizabeth Hubbard were listed in the 1790 Federal Census of Pendleton County, 96th District, Sounth Carolina. There was one white male aged 16 years and upwards; one white male age 16 years and under; and three females of all ages in the household.

Family traditions say 'he died July 1795' in the 23-Mile Creek area of Pendleton County. Samuel Robertson and William Hamilton were appointed as administrators of the estate. Evan Thomas' estate was appraised on Monday, 9 January 1797 by Alexander Ramsey, David Dunlap and John Adair. These appraisors were appointed by the probate judge or Pendleton County, South Carolina.

The public sale for the estate of Evan Thomas was held on Tuesday, 4 April 1797. Among the purhasers for this sale were Samuel Taylor, Robert Miller, Samuel Robertson, William Hamilton, John Thomas, Mary Dagly, Joseph Reed, Ambrose Foster, David Dunlap, William Bates, Nicholas Bishop and John Knox.
